A Kurdish civil society and human rights delegation meets with the International Investigation Committee in Geneva

Today, Friday, February 2, 2024, a delegation from the Kurdish civil and human rights society met in the Swiss city of Geneva, with the international investigation committee dedicated to the situation in Syria and the High Commission for Human Rights. The delegation included the head of the Human Rights Organization in Syria (MAF), Mr. Abdel-Baqi Asaad, and the head of The Geostrategic Organization of Kurdish Civil Society, Mr. Ibrahim Kaban, and the administrator of the Geostrategic Organization, Mrs. Amira Dawoud.

The delegation presented a number of files related to violations in the Afrin region committed by mercenary groups under the auspices of the Turkish occupation, in addition to the ongoing Turkish bombing of the Kurdish region in northern and eastern Syria with drones.
During the meeting, the delegation confirmed to the aforementioned committees the reality of the daily crimes occurring against the remaining Kurdish civilians in Afrin, in addition to the suffering of the people of the north and east of Syria from the daily bombing of villages and safe neighborhoods. The delegation also called for the necessity of prosecuting criminals and bringing them to justice, or opening a United Nations office related to crimes in the city of Afrin.

While the head of the investigation committee assured the delegation of taking these violations seriously, and the need to expedite holding the perpetrators accountable, especially the suffering that has begun to exhaust the conditions of civilians in Afrin.
The delegation tried, through the meetings that took place, to present dozens of files related to violations, supported by photos and videos.
